Ideal Comics
Based in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Ideal Comics was founded by writers Mathew D. Rhys and Chris Lawton. The friends and long time collaborators found that a number of their individual projects were similarly themed. They chose to create a single universe, which was called Escher's World.
After years of trying to break into the mainstream and numerous failed attempts to sell a major company on the Universe, Reese and Lawton decided the best choice for their universe was self-publishing. Enlisting the aid of a local print house and local artists, IC is a hometown business with a dedication to keeping it real, yo! Ideal Comics. Everything Great About Comics. With none of the suck.
Our Philosphy
We believe that comics are our modern mythology. They are our connection to the narrative traditions of our tribal past. They are the archetypes for our lives.
We believe that comics should follow the same timeline as the outside world, ensuring a realistic growth within the characters.
We believe that good stories are what sell comics, not cheap, promotional events.
We believe that there’s no such thing as a throw-away character. There are only characters, whose stories of greatness have not been told.
We believe that no character, no matter how popular they are, should ever be killed, merely for shock-value.
We believe that comics should be a hobby, not an investment.
